5 Council assess the application

• Considers any objections
• Holds mediation meeting if required
• Considers and refers comments
• Assess planning scheme provisions
• Negotiate with DualOcc

2 Prepare and Submit Application

• Application information
• Complete Town Planning Report
• Application form
• Application fee 

6 Council decide on the application

• Permit with conditions
• Notice of decision with conditions
• Refusal 

3 Council Check the Application

• Request for more information
• Referral to the other authorities
• DualOcc replies to their request

7 Review by state regulatory body if applied for:

• By the permit applicant against conditions to refusal
• By an objector against notice of decision

4 Application is Advertised (if required)

• For at least 14 days
• Usually by letter to neighbours and a sign on-site
• People affected may object
